Why a new board?

RCB was formed to meet the needs of all persons wishing to be nationally
recognized as reflexologists - RP - CR - MR.

Will I be recognized if I use tools and or probing devices?

Yes - please note - Local - State - or Federal laws - as well as Insurance agencies
may require that tools be FDA approved!

Is the RCB recognized by any State or Federal agencies?

ALL - "certification boards" are voluntary and NOT mandated.

Should a reflexologist be "insured"?

There may be laws in your area regarding insurance - the RCB suggests you be insured by the Reflexology Division of the IMA - (540-351-0800)

Is being "certified" the same as being "Licensed"?

NO - certification means you are recognized by a School or Association -
License is "permission to practice" and is granted by a Local / State agency.

What is "scope of practice"?

Scope of practice simply means that reflexologist must not perform any work beyond reflexology - unless otherwise qualified to do so.

What is the RCB "code of ethics"?

A code of ethics is simply a "Standard or Set of Rules" - click HERE to see the RCB code of ethics. Failure to abide by this code of ethics will result in peer reveiw and may result in "Certification Revocation" by the RCB.

What is a "Reflexology Practitioner"?

Any person practicing the ART of reflexology with not less than 25 hours of education.
RPs must complete a "Request to be Recognized FORM" upon completion a certificate showing the person to be certified as "Reflexology Practitioner" will be granted.  RPs may say / show they are RCB - Certified.

(RPs are usually those who work on family or friends - however - where LAW permits they may become a commercial business.  RPs wishing to be "CR - Certified Reflexologist" may complete a course of education and submit a copy ot their certificate / diploma along with the "fee" - once reviewed a "Certificate" may be granted.)

What is a "CR - Certified Reflexologist"?

Any person who has completed a course(s) of instruction by a recognized body - Local / State - or RCB approved "group / body" with not less than 50 hours of education and training and who submit for review his/her documents - may be granted RCB "certification" and may thus show / say they are RCB - Certified.

What is a "MR - Master Reflexologist"?

Any person completing a minimum of 100 hours of education / training from an RCB recognized school / body / group and who submit documents for review.  Once reviewed a certificate will be issued showing the person to be certified as a "Master Reflexologist".  MRs may say / show they are "RCB - Certified".

What is an RCB recognized School / Body / Group?

Any School (licensed or registered) or Body / Group that registers with the RCB and wishes to be listed as "Approved".
Some States require Licensure or registration of any school wishing to grant certificates - where this applies - the School MUST submit copies of such to be recognized.  Groups or Bodies wishing to be recognized who are not required to be Locally or State recognized may submit documents outlining their program - once approved by - RCB - their students may apply as well.

Does RCB recognize other Reflexology Boards or Associations?

YES - in fact there are many associations and certification bodies.
The RCB recognizes the following:

ARCB       American Reflexology Certification Board
ICR   International Council of Reflexologists
IIR            International Institute of Reflexology
RAA         Reflexology Association of America
RACB       Reflexology Acupressure Certification Board
IRA           International Reflexology Association
MIR          Modern Institute of Reflexology

The RCB - however - DOES NOT - limit certification as some do.
While some hold that reflexologists may not use creams - oils - tools - etc. - others do not.  The RCB suggests that - HANDS are best - and that oils / creams may be used IF REQUESTED - after a session - and that tools may be used if they are LEGALLY PERMITTED.
